Data duct cores through a supermarket floor
A run of core holes through a supermarket floor to reach the data cable ducts underneath, marked out and drilled one pair at a time.
A supermarket needed access to the data cable ducts running under its floor. The whole job is getting down to the ducts without going through them, which is a slow, careful way to spend a day and not a job to rush.
Every hole was marked out on the floor first, then cored in pairs so the cable had somewhere to go in and somewhere to come out. The cores come out whole and sit next to the hole, which is the quickest way to see you drilled where you said you would.
Tedious is the right word for it. Once you are through the slab you are drilling into the exact thing you are trying to protect, so it is done by feel and by depth, hole by hole, rather than by leaning on the rig.
The cable went in and the floor was left clean. Nobody in the store had to think about it.
