Concrete cutting in Ashburton
Ashburton is an hour and a quarter north, and Mid Canterbury has been part of our week for years. It is dairy and civil country, which means deeper cuts, bigger slabs and work that has to fit around a milking or a harvest rather than a nine to five.
What we have done in Ashburton
Every line below is a job we posted about at the time. If it is not on this list, we have not claimed it.
-
Cut a new house slab in Ashburton itself, a straightforward few lineal metres for a concreting crew who had the pour done and needed the cuts in before it cracked.
-
Cut a driveway poured in Methven, twenty minutes further inland.
-
Cut house slabs at Rakaia, out on the flat between Ashburton and Christchurch.
-
Worked on projects across Mid Canterbury for contractors based up that way, including a job we finished under one of the better sunsets we have seen.
The three we do most in Ashburton
Mid Canterbury asks for depth more than anywhere else we work: trenches through yards and races, slabs that are thicker than a house pad, and cores through dairy shed walls and floors.
Road sawing
Trenches, service runs and pothole removal in road and yard slabs. Cuts to 340 mm in one pass.
What we do
Floor and slab sawing
Expansion cuts, early entry soft cutting and full depth slab cuts. Indoors with extraction, outdoors in one visit.
What we do
Core drilling
Holes from 20 to 350 mm through reinforced walls, floors, brick and block. Extension bits when it has to go deeper.

Working in Ashburton
How long does it take you to get to Ashburton?
About seventy five minutes from our Timaru base. Mid Canterbury is normal territory for us and we have worked as far north as Rakaia and as far inland as Methven.
How deep can you cut for civil and dairy work?
The road saw takes 340 mm in a single pass, which covers most yard slabs, races and trench work. Core holes run 20 to 350 mm in diameter and typically to 400 mm deep, further with extension bits.
Can you work around milking or a fixed shutdown?
Yes. Dairy work runs to its own clock and we work to it, including nights and weekends. Tell us the window you have and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it.
The rest of the run
- Timaru Our base
- Temuka 15 min from Timaru
- Geraldine 35 min from Timaru
- Ashburton 75 min from Timaru
- Twizel 150 min from Timaru
We also work across Canterbury, North Otago and the Mackenzie. If the job is worth the drive, we will drive it.
