Compliant first. Then quality. Then speed.
We cut, core, scan and pump for the contractors building South Canterbury, including the ones who arrive here from out of town and do not know a soul. The paperwork is in your hand before we come through the gate.
- SiteWise Green
- Silica managed
- Inductions done
- Electric saws indoors
Send us the job
Site, depth, and when you need it. Matt will come back to you, and if it is urgent the phone is faster.
On a commercial site, compliance comes first
-
Compliance
Dust extracted at the blade, health monitoring on the operator, and the paperwork in your hand before we start.
-
Quality
Cut straight, cut once. From small jobs to $60 million projects, we perform at the highest standard.
-
Speed
Speed is key. We do not waste time on site, and we always turn up when we say we will.
A cut that puts crystalline silica through somebody's lungs is not a cheap cut, and a contractor who cannot produce their paperwork is not a cheap contractor either. How we manage it
What we bring to site
Everything below comes to you before the work starts, not after somebody in your office chases it.
- A site specific safety plan or JSA written for your job, not a template with your name typed into it.
- Safety data sheets for anything we bring onto your site.
- An equipment register, with the test and maintenance records behind it.
- Health monitoring records for the operator: lung, eye and hearing, done annually.
- Our SiteWise prequalification, Green since October 2024.
- Inductions done before the day rather than on it, so the first hour on site is cutting.
- A named health and safety manager behind the paperwork, not just a mobile number.

Three kinds of call, one number
Different problems, same answer: tell us what you have hit, where you are and how deep.
Local builders and concreters
One, two and three man bands who cut their own work when things are quiet and hand it out when they are flat. You have a pour on Thursday and you want the cuts in on Thursday. We have been that phone call for four years.
Civil and commercial contractors
Earthworks, drainage and building contractors who need depth, a straight line and someone who turns up between the excavator and the concrete truck. The first question is usually how deep, and the answer is usually deeper than you expected.
Out of town project managers
You have landed in Timaru for a big build and you do not know a soul. The local firms are too small to service the site and your own subbies are four hours away. We are the local specialist you would have known about if you were from here.
South Canterbury's big builds, from underneath
Most of the large projects in this region have needed something cut, cored or drained at some point, and a good share of that has been us. We cannot name all of them here, so here is what they were.
- A $60M dairy processing plant
- A $60M food factory in Geraldine
- A new school in Twizel
- Timaru's second largest construction site
A decent portion of our work is remedial, confidential or simply unsuitable for advertising. The jobs we can show you include a slot drain network rebuilt on a live factory floor and a run of data duct cores through a supermarket floor, and the rest are on the projects page.
Six things, done properly
Cutting, drilling, scanning and pumping. If you cannot go under it, over it or around it, ring us to go through it.
Floor and slab sawing
Expansion cuts, early entry soft cutting and full depth slab cuts. Indoors with extraction, outdoors in one visit.
What we do
Road sawing
Trenches, service runs and pothole removal in road and yard slabs. Cuts to 340 mm in one pass.
What we do
Wall sawing
Doorways, windows and penetrations cut clean out of standing walls. Concrete, block and heritage stone.
What we do
Core drilling
Holes from 20 to 350 mm through reinforced walls, floors, brick and block. Extension bits when it has to go deeper.
What we do
Concrete scanning
Find the steel, the conduit and the heating before the blade does. Scanned, marked, then cut.
What we do
Concrete pumping
A line pump reaches where a truck pump cannot. Tight sites, bad access and expensive pours.
What we doWhat project managers ask first
Are you prequalified?
We hold a SiteWise Green rating, achieved in October 2024, and we can send our health and safety documents through before we come to site. If your business runs its own approved subcontractor system, tell us which one and we will work through it with you.
How do you manage silica dust?
Dust is extracted at the blade into a vac when we are cutting dry, and slurry is vacuumed and carted off site when we are cutting wet. The operator is on annual health monitoring for lungs, eyes and hearing. There is more detail on our health and safety page.
Do you work after hours and at night?
Yes. A lot of commercial cutting has to happen between shifts, overnight or over a weekend so that production or traffic keeps moving, and we work those hours regularly. Tell us the window and we will work to it.
Do you travel outside Timaru?
Yes. Timaru is the base and we work across South Canterbury, Mid Canterbury, North Otago and the Mackenzie. Temuka is 15 minutes, Geraldine 35, Ashburton 75 and Twizel about two and a half hours.
Is there a minimum job?
There is a minimum charge for a call out and we will tell you what it is on the phone. We still take the small jobs, because in our experience the big ones follow them.
Got a programme date and a slab in the way?
Ring the number. Matt answers it, and if he is under a saw he will text you back. Tell us the site, the depth and the date, and we will tell you straight away whether we can hold it.
